Polystructure™ Capabilities
High Strength Pultrusion
This product exhibits excellent impact and durability characteristics. It has flexural modulus values that range from 40,000 psi to 60,000 depending on the thermoplastic material used.
Insert Technology
Inserting a localized high modulus CFT™ material within simple or complex extruded shape allows for true design flexibility within the profile design.
Bonding
Because CFT™ materials utilize thermoplastic resins, the ability to do frictional and ultrasonic welding exists. Polygon has completed frictional welding trials. Evaluating the bond integrity between an over-extruded OD layer, a CFT™ core and a thermoplastic pin. In these cases, the bond strength has been exceptional. Frictional welding is a design possibility for various attachments.
Design & Development
Polygon's CFT™ division can effectively transition from concept to finished product.
Assembly
Polygon's vertical intregration allows for customers to purchase semi-finished goods directly from Polygon. In some cases, discrete SKU's can be shipped to customer's point of sale or distribution centers directly.
Fabrication
Our in-house tool and die shop aids in the ability to produce prototypes of various fabricated details quickly. Polygon's Internal fabrication capabilities include various high precision CNC machining operations.Post-Forming
With a thermoplastic matrix post-forming maintains its high strength properties. Limitations have to do with two factors: first, the amount of fiber (up to 55% by volume) and second, the orientation of the fibers. The fiber volume percentages of CFT™ material are very high. When post-forming a CFT™ material the fibers must be provided room for displacement.
Tri & Quad Pultrusion
Add a high gloss finish, different colors, discrete bond lines or soft-touch materials to specific in-line over-extrusion profiles. Polygon's technology is also capable of in-line printing and texturing. The potential to eliminate secondary operations and improve product cosmetics are unparalleled with CFT™ technology.
