Application Ideas

PolyMed is useful in a wide range of applications calling for rigid medical tubing. The long list of benefits shows clear improvements over stainless steel or plastic alternatives in medical device design.

Endoscopic/Laparoscopic Devices

Cannula - Trocar Sheaths - Vein Harvesting Tubing

With the advent of minimally invasive surgical procedures, the emphasis for cannula and instrumentation materials has been to accommodate designs that introduce new functionality while reducing the size of the surgical entry point. PolyMed® tubing is designed to be a drop-in replacement for various cannulas, trocars, endoscopic and laparoscopic devices and has been well received by the medical community due to its increased performance versus traditional materials.

Suction/Irrigation Devices

Suction Tubes - Irrigation Tubes

PolyMed® is the probe material of choice for many of the top suction/irrigation device manufacturers. The nonconductive, composite shaft virtually eliminates concerns associated with damaged insulation of electrosurgical instruments. PolyMed® is extremely rigid over the longer lengths required for S/I applications and has superior non-reflective optical characteristics versus stainless steel. Suitable for disposable or reusable probes.

Insulation Shafts - Insulation Tubes

Due to it's extreme rigidity and outstanding dielectric properties, PolyMed® is an ideal material for energy device instrument tubes. Costly shrink wrap insulation required for stainless steel tubing is not required as PolyMed® tubing is nonconductive. PolyMed® is the right choice when performance, cost and functionality are critical to medical instrument designs.
